“The Army has suspended in-progress permanent-change-of-station moves by soldiers for the entirety of the federal government shutdown, leaving some families in limbo. “Effective today, we have received updated guidance from the headquarters Department of the Army to suspend all in-progress PCS moves,”
Previously, customers with orders dated before 1 October would proceed unimpeded. This latest action raises questions for many that recently had their shipments packed, or that are being packed at this time. This not only affects Service Members, but Transportation Service Providers (TSPs) as well. A prolonged freeze could cause further disruption if TSPs are forced to make cuts to their workforce. The ripple effects could limit capacity to service pending PCS shipments when the shutdown ends. There are many TSPs who are fully dedicated to PCS moves.
